Massimo Foletti è un fotografo e direttore della fotografia italiano.
La sua ricerca fotografica indaga la solitudine, la memoria e il rapporto tra presenza umana e spazio. Le sue immagini nascono da un’attenzione rigorosa alla luce, alla composizione e ai margini dell’esperienza, dove un volto, un gesto o un paesaggio rivelano una tensione condivisa.
Dopo una formazione iniziale in fotografia a Parigi, lavora tra Parigi e Milano come assistente fotografo in ambito moda e architettura.
Dal 1989 opera nel cinema come focus puller, operatore e direttore della fotografia, sviluppando uno sguardo fortemente legato al tempo, all’attesa e alla relazione tra corpi e ambienti.
Nel cinema ha ricevuto, tra gli altri, il Premio Giuseppe Rotunno per la migliore fotografia al BIF&ST 2013 e il Cinematography Jury Special Prize al Golden Eye Festival di Tbilisi nel 2018.
Massimo Foletti is an Italian photographer and cinematographer.
His photographic research explores solitude, memory, and the relationship between human presence and space. His images are rooted in a rigorous attention to light, composition, and to those margins of experience where a face, a gesture, or a landscape reveals a shared tension.
After an early training in photography in Paris, he worked between Paris and Milan as a photographer’s assistant in fashion and architecture.
Since 1989 he has worked in cinema as focus puller, camera operator, and director of photography, developing a visual language deeply connected to time, waiting, and the relationship between bodies and environments.
His film work has received, among others, the Giuseppe Rotunno Award for Best Cinematography at BIF&ST 2013 and the Cinematography Jury Special Prize at the Golden Eye Festival in Tbilisi in 2018.
